STELLAA Anniversary Blog Hop & Book Raffle

I’m pretty sure you all know that I love books.  Did you also know that I am a big proponent of literacy?  Or that I blog (intermittently. I’m not very reliable lately) for an organization called Stellaa.org?

It’s Stella’s birthday, and I’m part of a blog hop to help them celebrate and spread the word about the great things that they do.  I just realized that the book I finished this afternoon, Up and Down, is by one of our Blog Hoppers.  Hey, Terry Fallis. I loved your book.  So cool that you like Stellaa too.

A while ago I entered this contest, and I had to interview a charity.  Of course, I interviewed the Founder of Stellaa because I wanted everyone to know what a great organization she has founded.

I hope that you fall in love with Joanna’s mission just like I did.  To get involved, you can go to www.stellaa.org.

Now, for the great news.  In honour of this amazing organization’s birthday, they’re giving away a prize pack of books!!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Remember,  it only takes one book to change a person’s life.

What book changed your life?

reading is important because you can learn a lot from books that you can use for your everyday experiences in life.. it also helps in solving illiteracy among people..

  2. I have a passion for books. Owning a book store is a dream of mine (hopefully reality someday). Today, children are growing up the age of technology where sentences and grammer have to be recreated to fit into a 140 character tweet or text message. Friends of mine who are teachers tell me their students write essay papers in this “tech-talk”. I don’t want to raise my children in a world that is overruled by technology and the limitations they set that force us to create another language. I want my children to grow up reading print books and writing essays with proper words and grammer. How far ahead can you get in this world if all you know how to do is speak “tech”?

I would love to own a bookstore as well!! I will reassure you that I have teens and they can craft a well written sentence. It’s up to us parents to ensure that they’re exposed to great books, and that we provide a lot of ample opportunities to learn. With regard to books, I’m a firm believer in that reading is reading-whether it’s a novel, a comic, a play or a blog. As long as they’re reading words and developing their imaginations I’m happy.

Reading and literacy would open up your mind to a lot of things and a powerful weapon so you won’t be fooled by people. In reading, it is as if you can travel the world, attend a seminar, meet new friends, be close with God, and a lot more, even if you are just sitting in a corner and holding a book.
