Skin By CeraVe (and Genetics)

I keep looking at my face in the mirror. No, I’m not vain (well, a bit, but that’s not why). It’s because I keep examining all of my sun spots. These unsightly brown splotches, mostly on my left cheek, are one of the most obvious signs that I’m just about to topple over the hill.

I’m lucky I don’t have a lot of wrinkles (thank you Daddy!). But that doesn’t mean that my skin isn’t aging and sun-damaged. In fact, it’s both.

Skin by CeraVe (and Genetics)

You know, my dermatologist told me that it takes about 20 years for the damage the sun wreaks on the skin to start to rear it’s ugly head. And he was right. Starting in my mid-30s the aforementioned splotches have begun to show themselves the second any melanin is activated in my skin.

Oh, 16-year-old self, why did you tan for hours, covered in baby oil, homemade reflector (great use of double albums, you know.).

This is why I’m so vigilant about skincare and sun protection now. I want to salvage whatever health is left for my face. This is why I don’t leave my house without SPF on. Everywhere.

The thing is, I hate layering multiple creams on my face (serum, sunscreen, moisturizer). I have sensitive skin and while I dodged the whole teenage acne thing, I’ve heard that the peri-menopause years are Act 2.

Too many coats of gloop is a recipe for zit disaster.

That’s what I love about CeraVe. The AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 30 is just right for this girl about town because I only need to use the one product. The formulation, rich in essential ceramides, cholesterol and fatty esters, is so light and absorbs quickly into my skin so I can get the rest of my face on and get going fast (always late, always running late…).

These nutrients are delivered through a patented controlled-release MVE® system over a period of 24 hours repairing, replenishing, and protecting my skin as I go about my day. I’ve definitely noticed that since I’ve been using this ‘barrier building’ formulation my skin has seemed healthier and less prone to my ubiquitous rashes and dry patches.

CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM

It’s heartening to use a product that just works with no worries or adverse effects.
