How I’m Going to Make the Rest of 2016 Great —Or at Least Better

How I'm Going to Make the Rest of 2016 Great (or at Least Better)

Hi!! Yes, I’m still alive.

I know that I’ve done a bit of a disappearing act for the first 3 weeks of the year. That’s because so far, 2016 is kicking my butt. It’s been AWFUL. I don’t even feel like getting into it.  Right now. You know I will, because that’s what I do. But first, I need to breathe. And discuss the fact that so far I haven’t lived up to any of my New Year’s promises to myself (you might call those resolutions). But never fear!

I can save this thing. Most people rarely keep their resolutions for more than a few weeks. So maybe it’s encouraging that I haven’t even begun to enact them. I’ve got 9 days left to be a whole new me before 2016 is firmly entrenched.

How I'm Going to Make the Rest of 2016 Great (or at Least Better)What’s happened is that this month I’ve slid completely backwards. I barely go to the gym, I’m not eating or sleeping regularly, and I’m not doing my regular meditation. I am sticking up for myself more, which is good. And I’ve developed a rather productive habit of emptying the dishwasher while my morning coffee is brewing.

But other than that I’ve kind of become a potato.

Time to think of a few small steps I can take to get myself back in the game.

Get out of Bed! Ok as usual I’m exaggerating. I do get out of bed. But what I need to do is more than go from the bed to the couch to my desk to my bed to the chair… etc. I need to make sure I get to the gym. Not only will doing so ensure I ditch my hermit tendencies and leave the house everyday, but I’ll have more energy and a positive attitude. It’s because fresh air is good for you and so is not being sendentary. Life goal: to get myself a smart watch that will yell at me when I’ve only taken 12 steps in 10 hours. I really respond to guilt and shame. Do you?

The solution? Find my Fitbit and guilt myself into action.

Veritas_VitaFusionMensWomensTake your vitamins: As I’ve mentioned, my diet has taken a dumper this year. You can call it time crunch, stress non-eating, or ridiculous hikes in the price of groceries. Regardless, and if January has been any indication, to tackle the next 11 months I’m going to need my strength. It’s time to start taking some vitamins to boost my nutrients. Healthy active lifestyle, that’s the name of the game.

The solution? Find a supplement that’s right and remember to take it. We’re stocking up on Vitafusion™ Men’s & Women’s Complete Multivitamins (because anything I do my people have to do too) for a personalized option to help us feel great and support optimal health.

Tickle my funny bone: You know I like to laugh and it really is the best medicine. I’m going to make sure to turn my frown upside down by having a giggle fest each and every day. Research shows that humour and laughter strengthens your immune system, boosts your energy, diminishes pain and protects you from the damaging effects of stress.

The solution? Tune in to my fave sitcoms. Hang with my besties (they always make me laugh). Get my hubby to tickle my feet.

Protect my skin: While I don’t have a lot of wrinkles (yet), I know they’re coming. Genetics can only take me so far, and they can’t prevent skin cancer and other sun damage. I’m going to be ever so vigilant in using sunscreen with an SPF every single day, including overcase days. Last summer was my last tan. I promise (fingers crossed behind my back because I might be lying.)

What are some ways you’re going to make the rest of this year great?
