I’ve got a couple of beauty confessions to make.
1. I don’t wash my face twice a day. Never have.
2. I hardly ever take my makeup off before I go to sleep. Well… let me clarify. I sometimes wash my face in the shower. And I sort of clean my face and remove my makeup the next morning. I can’t very well go out with raccoon eyes, can I?
You see, besides being a ne’er do well lazy person, I’ve got sensitive skin, and in my experience, the more I mess with it, the worse it is. Just as soon as I attempt a recommended 3-step regimen, my face starts to break out. Maybe my skin likes being just a little bit dirty. I’ll never know. Oh yeah and also, I hate the feeling of having water splashed in my face. I’m like a baby that way.
But now that I’m closing in on 49, I’m starting to rethink my non-strategy. Sure, my skin has held up pretty well so far. Aside from the sun damage I inflicted with my record album reflector and baby oil, I don’t have *that* many wrinkles. Yet. But all that’s changing. When I’m dehydrated or I haven’t had enough sleep I’ve started to see more wear and tear and wrinkle action. I’ve developed Rosacea on my nose (hello, Rudolph!), and thanks to reverse puberty, I get the odd pimple—obviously right before I’m headed out on a date.
I think it’s time I need to re-think my lackadaisical skincare regimen before time and my hectic lifestyle catches up with me. Thing is, I know myself. Even if I buy it, even if it’s expensive- if it’s complicated, I’m just not going to do it. I like to keep my life easy and uncomplicated. But what if my skin care could work when I was sleeping? Would I do it then? Probably. I’ve heard of creams that do their day job at night, and I’m thinking that just might be the ticket. You know, to make my ZZZs work for me…
I’ve written before about CeraVe so you know I’m a fan of the brand. Since I have Rosacea, I love that their skin care is recommended by—and developed in conjunction with—dermatologists. Plus, my thirsty aging skin adores the fact that all CeraVe products contain 3 essential ceramides and hyaluronic acid to help hydrate and replenish vital lipids in my skin’s natural protective moisture barrier.
Now, they’ve got two new products with unique anti-aging benefits that I’m pretty excited about.
CeraVe Skin Renewing Cream Serum
Beware, fine lines and wrinkles, I’m coming for you. I use a serum under my moisturizer daily to add an extra layer of moisture and anti-aging defense. You can also wear it under a sunscreen. This cream quickly dissolves into a serum, absorbs quickly and contains an encapsulated retinol complex that’s great for sensitive skin.
CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream
ZZZ action—->Yes, I really woke up like this. This cream, containing two biomimetic peptides that help to improve skin cell turnover and elasticity, is designed to work at night in synergy with my skin’s circadian rhythm when the skin is most receptive. Hey. Lots of great stuff happens in bed. Why not add moisturized skin to the list. This is the ultimate my skin-WANTS-to-be-moisturized-while-I-snooze cream. Talk about multi-tasking.
I have a feeling that my skincare routine is about to change for the better. What do you think?
